
Learning in Action: Join us and Witness Students Learning Essential Skills for the 21st Century
Cincinnati- During the month of May, the Economics Center will be hosting three events at the University of Cincinnati that will showcase students’, grades 3-12, knowledge in financial education. Our programs teach students the essential skills to compete in the 21st Century and given the recent economy, it’s critical that students learn the fundamental concepts of personal finance and economics. Join us for the following events and be impressed with what these students are learning:
Stock Market Game (SMG) Portfolio Challenge
Cincinnati and Dayton Stock Market Game 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners from the Year-long, Fall and Spring games are invited to participate in the 2nd Annual Stock Market Game Portfolio Challenge and Awards Luncheon. Two winning teams will be going to New York City to present their winning portfolio to investment professionals at Goldman Sachs, courtesy of Ohio National Financial Services.

Dater Montessori Student Enterprise (StEP) Business Review
Sixth graders at Dater Montessori will present their business plan for Palazzo De Caffe, their coffee shop, to business professionals and education leaders. This student-organized and managed business is open every morning for parents and teachers. Students will showcase their products, provide highlights from the year including a business plan, marketing plan, and year-to-date revenues and profits.

2011 Market Madness
Over 700 elementary Students, grades 3-6, from 13 local schools come together to put their entrepreneurial spirit into practice by advertising, buying and selling products from their student-organized businesses. Students will sell products such as rockets, bookmarks, hats and they will also have the opportunity to use their hard earned school money to purchase meals for the homeless, to be donated to Freestore Foodbank.
