Congressman Driehaus Visits Reading Community School High School Students
Cincinnati, Ohio – The University of Cincinnati’s Economics Center provides student programs that promote economics and financial education. This year, students from Reading Community Junior Senior High School are participating in the Capitol Hill Challenge (CHC) and representing Congressman Steve Driehaus. Capitol Hill Challenge is a special edition of SIFMA Foundation’s educational program, The Stock Market Game (SMG). The program takes place every spring with student teams managing a hypothetical $100,000 online portfolio, investing in real stocks, bonds and mutual funds. The classroom learning focuses on the importance of long-term saving and investing.
On Monday, March 29, 2010 Congressman Driehaus will be visiting Teacher Brian Page’s classroom from 9am-10am at 1810 East Columbia Road, Reading, Ohio 45215.
One hundred and fifty four teachers, across the nation, were invited to participate in the spring 2010 CHC program. CHC is a 14-week competition that began on February 1, 2010 and ends on May 7, 2010. CHC acknowledges the accomplishment of the first-place team and their teacher with a trip to Washington D.C. to meet their Member of Congress and tour financial landmarks and national monuments. The Capitol Hill Challenge also provides Members of Congress an opportunity to visit the schools in their home states or districts to witness the valuable academic and life lessons students learn from the SIFMA Foundation’s SMG program – and to inspire and serve as role models for the students.
