
Applied Economics Research Institute joins the Economics Center at the University of Cincinnati
Cincinnati, OH – Effective July 1, 2011 the University of Cincinnati’s Applied Economics Research Institute (AERI) will join the Economics Center as they consolidate into a single organization.
Former AERI Director, Benjamin Passty, PhD joins the Economics Center’s research and consulting team as a Research Assistant Professor. Dr. Passty has been a faculty member in the Economics Department since 2008 and brings expertise on economic and fiscal impact analysis, statistical modeling and trend analysis, tax and revenue forecasting, labor market studies and environmental impact studies. Dr. Passty’s expert research and consulting capabilities will help the Center grow as they continue to serve the community.
AERI was founded in 2003 with the mission to educate decision-makers while involving students and faculty of the Economics Department in activities that benefit their scholarly activities. All of AERI’s work will be continued by Dr. Passty and other members of the Economics Center team.
Dr. Passty earned his Ph.D. in Economics from Northwestern University, earning a Certificate in Economics of Education from the Multi-Disciplinary Program in Education Sciences. In addition, he earned Bachelor Degrees in Mathematics and Economics from Trinity University in San Antonio, TX.
