Creating the Next Generation of Entrepreneurs

The Students for the Advancement of Global Entrepreneurship (SAGE) business plan competition was held by the Economics Center at UC’s College of Business on May 1. Students’ business plans were evaluated on how well they integrated concepts such as global markets, environmental awareness, and civic participation into their entrepreneurial ideas.

SAGE allows students to create a business plan and share it with a panel of judges made up of business owners and entrepreneurs across Ohio.

Five schools were represented in the Ohio SAGE competition. Ross High School’s team took the Ohio state title. Second place was Miami Valley CTC. They will represent Ohio at the national SAGE competition in San Francisco, California. The winner of the national SAGE competition will represent the United States at the SAGE Global competition in Brazil this August.

John Morris, COO of the Economics Center, noted, “Activities like the SAGE competition spark an entrepreneurial spirit in students as they acquire the skills and knowledge that can ensure success and productivity beyond the classroom.”
