Resounding Success - Financial Education Teacher Academy

Autumn
2007

Financial Education Teacher Academy was presented in June with the support of State of Ohio Treasurer’s Office. Over 30 business, family/consumer science and economics teachers attended the Academy. This financial education program for teachers was presented by six other centers for economics education across Ohio.

The two-day Academy provided educators with materials and resources for teaching financial goal setting, value of working and earning and practical money skills. The Financial Education Academy originated as a response to the Senate Bill 311 legislation that changed the high school graduation requirements in Ohio. The “Ohio Core” requires that economics and financial education is taught as part of standard social studies curriculum.

The program and resources were rated positively by all who attended. Due to its success, the Economics Center will offer the Teacher Academy again this Fall.
