
Mike Packard: Trustee and Advocate
Mr. Michael Packard joined the Board of Trustees in 1999 and now – over eight years later - he continues to support the Economics Center’s mission. Mr. Packard is the President/CEO of HPO Ophthalmic, a company focused on developing products that help prevent blindness, and other degenerative sight disorders. Mr. Packard also works as an independent consultant on business strategy, planning and leadership issues for various businesses. His affiliation with the Economics Center began during his work as the Executive VP/Chief Administrative Officer of Lenscrafters. Over the years, Mr. Packard has been an important supporter and advocate of the Center, its programs and services.
Since joining the board, Mr. Packard has worked to expand the impact and reach of Center’s initiatives. The Center’s work helps students in need, and positively influences student achievement and the knowledge base of teachers in local schools – reasons he cites for supporting the Center over the years.
Schools and districts such as Lakota, Lebanon, Fairborn and others have utilized Mr. Packard’s expertise in strategic planning - uniquely designed for strengthening leadership in the public education system. Mr. Packard’s most notable contribution to the Center has been his guidance and expertise in leading the staff of the Center through strategic planning sessions. These sessions have been immensely valuable in guiding current efforts and providing direction for the future.
