Fourth Annual Market Madness
Learning first-hand about the economy and the environment.
Nearly 1,350 students from 19 local elementary schools participated in the fourth annual Market Madness on May 13. Held at Xavier University’s Cintas Center, the students bought and sold items from 51 different student businesses and received a tour of Xavier University’s campus. To get ready for this event, students inteviewed for classroom business job positions and invested school currency to start their business ventures.
This year, the students constructed the majority of their products using recycled items. In order to help the students understand the importance of recycling and sustainability, the Student Enterprise Program (StEP) partnered with Keep Cincinnati Beautiful as well as Hamilton County Environmental Services. The Economics Center’s StEP program is currently serving 31 local elementary schools.
