Volunteer for the Economics Center!
The Economics Center is committed to engaging students and empowering educators through the knowledge of economics and financial literacy. Students in the K-12 classroom are our future economic drivers. It is important to instill fundamental economic and financial understanding and skills in our youth. We need your help to truly make a difference.
There are a variety of ways to volunteer for the Center.
Why Money Matters Program:
We need business professionals from the community to get involved with K-12 education and volunteer to be classroom speakers in schools. Teachers are asking for your help and students will benefit from your expertise and experience on topics such as budgeting, investing and saving.
For more information about Why Money Matters, visit www.whymoneymatters.org. To volunteer today, please fill out this form and we will coordinate the classroom visit for you.
Student Enterprise Program (StEP):
StEP connects classroom work to the “world of work” through practical learning in the 3-6 grade classrooms. Students are encouraged to view school as their priority. In this program, students are rewarded with school cash for making good choices, such as getting good grades, coming to school and good behavior. Students learn how to make responsible money management choices through hands-on lessons in spending, saving and investing. Four times a year, students have the opportunity to spend school cash earned, requiring them to understand choices and consequences for saving or spending. For more information about StEP, visit www.economicscenter.org/educator/step.
We need volunteers to help at upcoming events and at our school stores, in an effort to make them more sustainable. To volunteer, please contact StEP Director, Dr. Val Krugh at 513.556.2949 or email Val.Krugh@uc.edu.
