Students for the Advancement of Global Entrepreneurship (SAGE)
Inspire your students to learn, profit and change their world.
Mission: To help create the next generation of entreprenural leaders whose innovations and social enterprises address our world's unmet needs.
SAGE is an international non-profit competition that links secondary school student organizations to mentors from local universities and businesses. Its purpose is to advance youth business and social entrepreneurship in an ethical and socially-responsible manner. High school students use their experience as a SAGE member to become self-reliant, create wealth, and help others.
SAGE gets students engaged by creating a network of educational, business, and community leaders. Students begin to form business ventures under the direction and guidance of teacher advisors, SAGE Coordinators and the business community.
SAGE encourages students to evaluate the skills/talents they posses and to begin to apply knowledge learned in your classroom. Within SAGE, students design a plan outlining how their individual or team talents could be marketed through venture creation. During the competion, students present their activities to peers and a panel of judges. The SAGE Coordinator provides support to teams throughout the process.
In the early spring, SAGE teams will compete for the state title at a competition hosted by the Economics Center at the University of Cincinnati. This year the event will be on May 1st 2009. The winner of this competition receives an all-expenses paid trip to the SAGE USA Competition, in San Francisco, California, where teams compete against other state champions. The winner of the SAGE USA Competion advances to the Annual SAGE World Cup. SAGE is active in many countries around the world.
Best of all, it costs nothing to get started!
There is no cost or obligation to compete once you join the SAGE network. Your SAGE coordinator can serve as a guide and resource as you assemble your team and plan for competitions. In addition, financial grants are periodically avalible to help SAGE teams.
