Course Description

Help your students use simple economic analysis skills to take a new look at key events and decisions in U.S. and World history – trade, roles of government, economic development, and more. Grades 7-12. Lots of interesting activities and new ways to look at historical events and decisions.

Additional Information:

The day will be two independent 1/2 day workshops. One registration fee pays for both including lunch. The morning will focus on world history, the afternoon US History. Morning only participants may leave immediately following lunch. If you only wish to attend the afternoon, please plan to arrive at 11:45 for lunch, then stay for the 2nd half workshop.

Morning participants will receive the "Teaching Economics in World History" teachers guide.

Lunch and refreshments are provided.

Afternoon Participants receive a copy of the "Teaching Economics in U.S. History" teachers guide.

Credit Requirements:

AM ONLY:  If you attend only the morning "World History" session and you want one quarter hour of graduate credit ($199), you should formally review 6 lessons from the "World History" Teacher Guide.

PM ONLY:  If you attend only the afternoon "U.S. History" session and you want one quarter hour of graduate credit ($199), you should formally review 6 lessons form the "U.S. History" Teacher Guide.

ALL DAY:  If you attend all day and want one quarter hour of graduate credit ($199), you should formally review 3 lessons form either teacher guide.

Extended Credit: An option to extend credit through an independent research/curriculum development project is available for this program. The instructor will discuss this option at the class meeting. Cost: $199 per quarter hour.
