Course Description

This course will introduce and provide you with lessons that work and engage students in learning math. Teachers often find lessons that teach concepts and standards; but the context of the work is not engaging or motivating for students to want to learn. These lessons will add “real life” applications to your teaching, focusing on financial literacy and the decision making of your students. Topics are relevant to your students and will motivate them to sharpen their math skills. Grades 4-7.

Additional Information:

The supplemental lessons and activities in this coursed have recently been involved in an extensive study documenting changes in student achievement and attitudes toward math. Come to this session if you wish your students all loved math like you do.

Extended Credit: An option to extend credit through an independent research/curriculum development project is available for this program. The instructor will discuss this option at the class meeting. Cost: $99 per quarter hour.

A grant is available to allow teachers in this course to acquire graduate credit for only $99.
